Partner Spotlight: ACCESS Academies
ACCESS Academies works in three middle schools (Most Holy Trinity Academy, St. Cecilia Academy, and St. Louis the King at the Cathedral) to provide students with tutoring, mentoring, tuition assistance, counseling, and other forms of support to ensure they are prepared for success in high school and beyond.
ACCESS follows the NativityMiguel model, which includes 10-hour school days, a 10-and-a-half month school year, and parental involvement. As a result, 98 percent of ACCESS students are accepted into college-prep high schools, 99 percent graduate from high school, and 94 percent are admitted to college.
Asia Haynes, a senior at Incarnate Word Academy, benefitted from her involvement with ACCESS Academies as a middle-school student at Most Holy Trinity Academy.
During middle school, she participated in ACCESS’s enrichment activities, including dance, cooking, and sewing classes, as well as their study skills program. ACCESS’s Graduate Support Specialist also made sure that Asia was prepared for high school, and continued to follow up once she was accepted to Incarnate Word to provide comprehensive support services, information about potential colleges, and more.
