The 2013-2014 school year saw Missouri hit another marker for graduation rates as it reached 85.7 percent. Previously, the graduation rate sat at 86 percent for the 2012-2013 school year, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

While the rate is staying pretty consistent, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said more work needs to be done. Duncan along with President Barack Obama have called for the U.S. high school graduation rate to rise to 90 percent by 2020.

Recently, it was announced that nationally the graduation rate reached 81 percent.
